Small groups tours in Abruzzo, Calabria and Sicily

Feast On History is a family business which is why we only run tours in Campania. Our business partners are our cousins, the Scariati family, who own and operate Borgo La Pietraia. We really believe in family run businesses and as such, we try to partner with as many of them as possible. We're also passionate about Southern Italy and promoting tourism in its lesser known pockets which offer extraordinary value. If you want to take a small group tour of Naples, Irpinia or Cilento, come with us. But if you're interested in Abruzzo, Calabria or Sicily, meet our trusted colleagues and friends, Domenica, Michelle, Rosetta and Allison.

Abruzzo

Culinary tours Italy

This wild, mountainous region inspires fierce loyalty in the hearts of people who fall under its spell. If your looking specifically for a culinary tour, go with cookbook author Domenica Marchetti, whose roots are in Abruzzo. Domenica's tours include market-to-table cooking classes which are on my own bucket list.

If you're looking for a tour for the entire family, get to know Michelle Capobianco of Majella Home Cooking.  I love seeing the photos that Michelle posts on Facebook annually of her three young sons at their summer home in Abruzzo. Michelle, also a caterer, is now offering Abruzzo tours where parents and kids can enjoy nature together at an agriturismo inside the Majella National Park.

Calabria

small group tours calabria

Rosetta Costantino is the Italian cookbook author I most admire right now. Rosetta lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, but leads cooking tours to her native Calabria. Just page through one of her cookbooks "My Calabria or "Southern Italian Desserts" to see the high quality of her work. There are a lot of cooking classes and tours of Italy, but few with such a capable teacher. Calabria was recently named one of the 52 places to go in 2017 by the New York Times. I feel strongly that it's a region best visited with a local who can reveal the layers of history that make Calabria very different from the rest of Italy.

Sicily

Sicily small group tours

Sicily is a small island that you can spend several lifetimes exploring. There's no one else I would trust more to show it to me than Allison Scola and Experience Sicily. It seems almost impossible to emphasize just how passionate Allison is about sharing Sicily. Her small group tours are crafted with impeccable care and her customized itineraries are overseen on the ground by her cousin and business partner. If you're feeling overwhelmed about the myriad of things to see, eat and drink in Sicily, talk to Allison. If you're trying to figure out how to see both the east and west coast of Sicily in one trip, then you definitely want to take one of Allison's  small group tours.
